BICIS Training
IEC Education of Utah is an authorized BICSI training facility.
Richard Darnell received his initial training in electronics during four years in the Marine Corps working on airborne weapons systems. Following his discharge, he worked on various military weapons systems, such as the Sergeant Missile, Nike Hercules Missile and Redeye Missile systems. He has worked in civil service for both the Air Force and the Army, as well as contractors such as Sperry Univac, General Dynamics, Unisys, and Evans & Sutherlund. He has held positions in industry as senior technician, Electronics Equipment Specialist, Field engineer, Training Specialist and Technical writer.
In the area of telecommunications, Mr. Darnell spent three years designing sound and telephone systems for commercial installations. He has also taught the Tyco Electronics/AMP NetConnect ACT 1, 2, and 3 courses through Salt Lake Community College for ten years. He is an authorized Tyco Electronics trainer and during the past year, he has taught these same courses as a third party trainer.
Mr. Darnell also taught the BICSI installation program through Salt Lake Community College for six years and is currently teaching these courses through the Independent Electrical Contractors association of Utah. His BICSI credentials include Technician Level Installer, Certified Trainer, and Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
Mr. Darnell has recently retired from Salt Lake Community College where he taught electronics and telecommunications courses for over 40 years and developed the telecommunications program. During his tenure at the college he remained very active in industry taking on consulting, training and technical writing assignments.
